Our Feast
Our feast...
The Feast celebrated in our village is held anually on the first week of August. This year it is going to be celebrated on the week ending 5th August 2007. Here is some information about our feast.
The last three days...
On the last three nights, meaning Thursday, Friday, and Saturday brass bands play along our village streets popular marches accompanied by enthusiastic teenagers who gather to entertain the people coming from all localities in Malta and Gozo. When the march reaches the destination upon the village square a fantasic and a unique ground fireworks by the Qala Fireworks takes place. This show is deemed to be the most spectacular in the island of Gozo and this makes us proud of!
On the Feast day...
The Climax is reached on Sunday, the day of the Feast. A traditional mass with the participation of the orchestra is celebrated in the morning in which the Bishop or another priest delivers the panegyric to our patron Saint Joseph. Soon afterwards the youths together with all the villagers join in the popular morning march around the main streets of our village to sing with the marches played by the brass band.
In the evening the artistic statue of Saint Joseph is carried on shoulders high out of the church and accompanied by the Qala people with the participation of the ‘Ite Ad Josef’ Band, the brass band of our village. Moreover the Qala Fireworks group presents its work, mainly the unique ‘Dahna Kulur’, which sets the blue sky into a unique colorful scene. There is an explosion of delight and admiration as the patron saint is raised on outstretched arms and taken back inside the church in the grand finale. Here one can also see a fantastic and colorful fireworks display delivered by our group.
